The 'speeding' money go round
West Midlands reveal that profit is planned on projected speeders.

Councillors in the West Midlands have just approved funding that should enable speed camera enforcement to continue in the next financial year?

The Planning and transportation sub-committee approved council funding of £88,700 for the maintenance of active camera sites.

Speed awareness courses are given as a stream of income and an anticipated attendance of 18000 motorists at £80 a hit. An income of some £1.44 million pounds, of which the police will take £650,000 leaving £790000 for the course providers. Wow nice work if you can get it for a limited company isn't it?

As an ex police class one advanced driver and one who studies many speed limit orders, I can tell West Midlands Councillors, that most offending is caused by misleading road layout giving an entrapment effect and the arbitrary setting of speed limits too low without any scientific basis or causal history.

When limits are set too low they create offenders from perfectly safe drivers. I can also add that 'speeding', the act of simply exceeding an arbitrary number on a pole cannot cause anything.

Driving too fast, even below the limits, does cause accidents and thus most accidents are below the speed limits. 18000 'speeders' that don't crash prove all this. But if there were hundreds of accidents on a road, would police just keep photographing them or find out why? Why then do they not find out why so many drivers are getting it so wrong?

The clue is of course the revenue stream disclosed here. Can't these councillors see all this or are they part of the scam? Road safety shouldn't be about the vested interests of profiteers or finance. The profitable prosecution of perfectly safe drivers is not addressing road safety at all.

So far as the courses are concerned, what is the driving and road safety expertise of the instructors? Do they tell their students that 'speeding' actually causes nothing? That speed cameras cannot detect 'too fast' and thus cannot see any accident causes and that the limit that got them there was probably inappropriately set by a non-expert too?

No-one yet has been able to tell me on what legal basis the police are able to take money for courses instead of prosecuting a disclosed offence.

So here is the evidence that 'speeding' is one joyous money go round whose appetite must be sated. Thus we have an expectation, like all business plans, of 18000 predicted offenders to make it viable. We thought the idea was to 'make our roads safer' by stopping speeders not planning on them!

Look at the website of the TTC group. http://www.ttc-uk.com/meet_the_team.htm To see the main players. How affluent they look. And their link with HRH Prince Michael (again).

This joyous money go round whose appetite must be sated with its business plan, of 18000 predicted offenders to make it viable is bad enough but it is worse than that. TTC are members of PACTS,
a private lobby group who promote public transport with other vested interest members who profit from 'speeding' and Brake
an anti car anti driver lobby group too. So this means police prosecution is being funded directly and indirectly by anti driver lobby groups, so called charities and profiteers all promoting each other. And yes lo and behold Prince Michael of Kent too. See http://bit.ly/noKjj8
