Just spotted this on the Kent & Medway minutes:

http://www.kentandmedwaysafetycameras.o ... _01_05.pdf
Quote:
2e. Termination of National Communications Spokesperson role
CR notified the Board that all Safety Camera Partnerships had recently received a letter from Ian Duncan about Susan Beck, the Safety Camera Programme National Communications Lead, who is employed on a fixed term contract via a hosting arrangement with Northamptonshire Police. Northamptonshire Police has informed the DfT that they wish to terminate this arrangement when the current contract ends on 31 March 2005. The DfT has taken the opportunity to give consideration to the future of Susan’s role and has decided that the role will be discontinued by the end of March 2005. The DfT is proposing that one of the existing Partnership Communications Managers might be interested in taking on the wider
role of the Partnerships Spokesperson and is planning to contact them soon to help establish the role. PC commented that national publicity had never been dealt with satisfactorily and this occurrence would not help matters. Both KH and IP thought it presented Partnerships with an ideal opportunity to employ an independent agency to work on their behalf. CR
explained that this issue will be discussed further by south-east Communications Managers at a meeting on 24 January and on a national level at the National Conference in Manchester on 3 & 4 February

G attrill thanks for that.

Also amongst the Minutes was the following

Speed Awareness
JK explained that four options had been drawn up for the running of a Speed Awareness
course in Kent and Medway. One of the options hits all ACPO requirements with minimal
outlay and it is this option which has been approved by an ACC. In brief this uses offences
that are currently detected within the recommended guidelines for Speed Awareness; it
leaves sufficient offences for the camera operation to remain financially stable and provides
enough for the SpeedAwareness to be economical. Demand for both SpeedAwareness and
Partnership workstreams can be controlled on an almost daily basis as the SA scheme beds
down. The deployment of cameras around the sites can vary the number of offences
detected to ensure that neither is swamped and is not expected to require any adjustment
to threshold levels.]
Does this not explain that the purpose of the scameraships is first to fund themselves!

We have here a quote from the Scam that [quoteit
leaves sufficient offences for the camera operation to remain financially stable and provides]
So the goal for this bunch is "Safety last Scamera survival first" - its scandalous!

Oh there's better than that. Do a Google search for "safety camera" minutes and you get a nice list of reading material.

I've posted some from Hampshire in the past, here's a couple of interesting tidbits from Thames Valley:

NB: I think cases that go to court don't count as "paid", but the "photo" figure looks interesting.
