Dear members,
Recently I was driving in Edinburgh. I gone past an amber signal and my car been followed by another car (tailgater) through the same traffic lights. I do not think any other vehichle followed my tailgater. Speed was within the normal limits (25mph). While I checked the central mirror I just seen a single flash followed in 1-2 seconds by a double flash.
I think the camera has definitely flashed the car that followed me. I do not know that the first single flash I have noticed was just a single flash or did I missed the first half of the first double flash (or does it matter). I do not know whether the flashes I described (single then double) were normal sequence for a single offending car.
My questions are "Is there a chance that my car would have been flashed as well?. How rapid do these red signal cameras flash?. If I am getting a letter from the traffic police would they buy the argument of not stopping because of the risk being hit by the tail gater. Would I be expected to prove, that I have been tailgated?.

If you went through on amber then you have no worries, the camera isn't active until after the red is on.
