A TEENAGE moped rider clocked up 36 speeding tickets in two months, Fareham Youth Court heard.
The brazen 17-year-old was caught hurtling along four roads with speed cameras, and on one occasion even made an offensive gesture at one as he roared past.
The mechanic was snapped in Gosport, Fareham, and three streets in Portsmouth, where he roared around a circuit on his own. He was eventually collared after film of the teenager's antics was passed on to the police by the safety partnership.
advertisementIn court, the youth - who cannot be named for legal reasons - claimed he thought he could not have exceeded the speed limit because he was riding a 50cc bike, and his speedometer had been smashed in an accident.
The 17-year-old admitted 36 speeding summonses and one charge of driving without due care and attention, and was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £250 and told to pay £140 costs.
Magistrate Coreen Irwin told him: "This was a total disregard for any of the laws and you have shown absolutely no responsibility for the way you rode."
Now that is a bit of a bargin.
