I have just been warned of a new scam affecting car parks and work places where cars are regularly parked. It may be worth noting
You return to your car to find a small accident has occurrred
Luckily the person has responsibly left a mobile phone number
You phone and they are very aplogetic and of course offer to pay for the damage
They will send a cheque, can you give your address?

So far so good, unfortunately what has happened is that they know you are awaay from home - because your car is there, they also know where the home is, so sometime in the next week they will confirm you are at work and visit your home!

Beware, if this happens give an office address just in case it's real, but be suspicious.

Folks,

Changing the subject a bit but please take note......

If you have a laptop computer, do NOT leave it on standby in the car, even if covered in the boot etc. A 'bluetooth' phone will locate it. We've been warned about it lately in our briefings. I can't and won't go into detail, but it can be done and has been done regularly on my ground. Be warned........

Alternatively if you have a laptop and put it on standby switch off bluetooth and wireless networking first . I assume the same discoverability is true if you leave a bluetooth phone in the car with the bluetooth active.
