They need a sign, “beware of the signs” :( Anyone know how much a typical sign cost to install?

Would Just one of this sign not be better? With the appropriate info board below.

Are they all related to cyclists do you think? or just the ones in the pictures?

What is the point of an "end of cycle route" sign? I mean we can usually work out where the road ends without having to have a sign telling us.

Whilst I agree with the tone of the article, I don't think that it is relevant to slate sponsorship signs on roundabouts. One thing the experienced brain is adept at is discarding extraneous information. I can honestly say that I cannot recall even noticing whom a roundabout was sponsored by whilst driving. I can say, however, that I would rather someone other than the cheque-writer who takes my taxes funded pretty things to decorate road-furniture.

In my opinion, the article only touches half the problem. Combine sign clutter fetish with making the signs out of the most retro-reflective materials known to science and you can be sure that it becomes virtually impossible to drive at night unless you happen to be wearing a welding mask.

It's very popular in France, where I live at the moment, to build concrete islands in the middle of single carriageways with keep right signs at the head. Roundabouts get similar treatment. The signs are so bright in full beam that your pupils contract and the only thing you can see is the sign. Kill your beams and it takes several seconds for your eyes to readjust.

Many of the newest roadside warning signs appear to be nothing more than a searing white triangle when viewed with full beams.

I regularly have to drive otherwise pitch-black sections of road on dipped beams just to avoid being blinded by my own headlights.

Do these things really need to be so bright that they're visible from outer space?

That is the same problem with those stupid "bicycle and pedestrian" blue signs which serve no purpose other than to get in your face when you're driving at night. People will cycle there even if there are no signs so get rid of the signs and stop it being illegal to cycle on a footpath!

The company I work for sponsors one
I immediately noticed it because I'm not used to seeing the company logo there. Thankfully since then I've subconsciously filtered them out - probably through familiarity.

So it becomes subliminal advertising.
