This has been mentioned before on here or PH (it was a HGV driver who's licence came back minus the HGV entitlement). I think you'll find that they will say that you will have to provide proof that you had the entitlement.

I don't know what to say. I've heard about this too.

If you need someone to load the cannon give me a shout.

If you are stopped it will be because your driving licence has no motorcycle entitlement on it !
You will also, in that case, be driving without insurance.
In that case, you can expect your motorcycle to be impounded.
If you cannot produce a valid licence and insurance, it will be crushed.
Welcome to ELECTRONIC:UK, the land where you ARE insured but the details are not on the database and the police do not accept a certificate of insurance because there are so many drivers with invalid ones !

First of all (although it might be a bit late if you have set off on holiday already....) CONTACT THE DVLA NOW! and let them know of the error. They only keep your old licence for a short time and once destroyed you will have a big problem in arguing your case. If you have kept a copy of your old licence showing your motorcycle entitlement before sending it off it will help too.

I know a chap who had the same problem after moving house and he didn't notice for some weeks, had no record and the result was he had to resit his bike test. This is not that unusual either.

I have got the same problem. Mine shows a limit on engine power as if I am under 21. I phoned the DVLA and they confirmed that their records are correct and the licence is printed wrong. The police can access DVLA records so not problem. My only worry was when I rented bikes abroad but after several years no one has ever noticed...

Just havent got around to sending it back to get it corrected.

HOW ?

When you pass test ,you send in pass cert.
Copies of licence are of little use . I posed this question years ago - i worked for a Govt department which paid for your licence (which in those days was renewed yearly) and renewal took up to a good few weeks. Get a producer in that time and you could not produce licence( I did get one and it was my local station sergeant who helped me out).Copy said I - not legal i was told.
Unless it's changed as i believe that a roadside speeding reciept acts as a temporary licence.

I have previously got my local police station to photocopy my licence, stamp and sign it as an authentic copy, before sending off my original; this was accepted when i got stopped while licence was away.

Nice on, but locally from the opening times etc of local stations, think an apointment system is on the cards. ( Recently local station was vandalised as it was closed for the night , this was not a glorified village station, but one that till recently was a 24 hr town station)
