On my way home from work today, I have seen two objects I haven't seen before.

These appear to be temporarily set up and consist of high pole mounted cameras (observation types in small rectangular housings) with a green steel equipment box at the pole base. They are mounted at the roadside in the position generally occupied by lamposts and appear to be observing two junctions.

Anyone seen anything like these?

Something similar on A5 , both sides of Hinckley ---think it's advance warning of high vehicle approaching low bridge

Sounds like the camera I saw overlooking one of the junctions in Maidenhead a few months ago-IIRC it was there for about a week, disappeared, then a permanent camera was installed in its place.

Could be traffic monitoring in advance of roadworks or with a view to redesigning the road layout.

Traffic survey. Cheaper than paying two cars and 4 people to sit and write.
