Its only made dangerous by stupid driving.

So are you suggesting that the inherent risks of all roads are equal, but on some the stupidity fairy waves her wand over motorists?

No road is any more dangerous than any other - it is an inanimate object that can't be dangerous to anyone. However, let enough stupid drivers down any road and they will find ways to kill themselves.

No such thing as a dangerous road.

Have a look at: http://www.safespeed.org.uk/forum/viewt ... 965#156965

The term 'dangerous' in this context is just a description of relative risk. It says nothing about blame or responsibility.

Hello, Ray, it's nice to see you here. I guess you came looking for a little more civilised behaviour than we've been accustomed to elsewhere, and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

BTW, I agree with you about 'dangerous roads'.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

No such thing as a dangerous road.

So why do some roads have a markedly worse accident rate than others?

Drivers not paying attention, lack of observation, no anticipation or putting their attention on something other than driving.

The road just sits there minding its own business.

Those are the causes of accidents. Not the reasons why some roads have a markedly worse accident rate than others.

So why is that?

Is it just normal random statistical variation? Even when repeated year after year?

Or is there something else?

If so, what do you think that might be?
