I got caught back in Jan for doing 90.09 in my Type-R. My fault, 12 years of driving no points, I deserved it. It was stupid.

Beginning of March I sold my type-r and got a Honda Accord 2.4.

Been real careful since my ticket. Anyway was driving down the M6 and at around j19 there was a police car and a man standing holding something. He was holding it close to his eyes. Anyway I was doing around 80ish on the speedo, so probably realistically 74-75MPH. I got so stressed, that today I went out on the same road (M6 j17-j19 loop) and took Tom Tom with me (my car has built in satnav so dont normally use it) Tom Tom agrees with my thought doing 83MPH and Im really doing 78.

Guess this! As I approach J18 there is a police car on the bridge with a man and an tripod. I maxed 83MPH on the speedo, but was probably doing 80MPH when I saw the cars in the distance. I slowed right down. Could I have been caught 2 times in 2 days? This could be 9points. Im going to have to just watch my Speedo for the next 3 years now.

When I passed the bridge there was 2 police cars on the hard shoulder, 1 had pulled someone. Do you think there is a good chance they are only pulling people in for speeding (guy using camera reports to police cars up the road?), or maybe I can expect something in the post? On the way back there was only 1 police car and 1 4x4 police car further up on the slip. I also noticed that the tripod when I passed it didnt have someone actually looking though it. One the way down back it did.

Cannot believe my luck.

You can't change the past, so you have to live with it. You might be making a fuss about nothing. We've all done some daft things. This is pretty tame by most standards - the number of times I could have ended up in jail, hospital or the morgue are too numerous to count.

So, enjoy life and don't worry. These tickets are just flea bites in the scheme of things.

:welcome: Inoton.

If it's any consolation, the older you get the quicker the time goes! I've got one year left on my first ever speeding conviction to run, seems to have gone very quickly.

Thanks guys.
I'm assuming that as there were patrol cars (lots of them) further up the road past the bridge that they were actually pulling people rather than posting if thru the mail.

Could be ANPR.

Your second example with the tripod and cars stopped on the hard shoulder is most likely ANPR. :)

I hadn't thought of ANPR. Might be the case. Was strange just having cop cars on the hard shoulder waiting to go get someone. I know they use to do that with with lasers, but thought now it just lands up in the post for your to say who was driving. Maybe they are doing both at the same time!!!!

Well it is the end of the financial year ;-)

If I got caught yesterday and today then so be it. It will have been for doing no more than 79/80 in good conditions. That'll be nine point in 3 months!

I'll just have to drive like a saint. I've already turned on the alarm on the car to go off when I hit 70 so I can press the Cruise control button. I never speed anywhere but the motorway...just seems natural to drive faster than 70, but that's because if your in the middle or out side lane someone is always on your bumper if your doing 70.

Actually re-reading it, ANPR sounds highly likely.

As they're after "rogue drivers" who can't just be sent a ticket in the mail, they have to actually physically collar them if the ANPR goes off.

The typical threshold for prosecution (as per ACPO guidance) is 79 in a 70, so you'd probably be ok anyway.

If there's other police cars around in addition to the one manning the camera then they intend to pull you straight away, if there's just the one then it's more likely that they'll be sending out tickets in the post.

I know that the police have upto 14 days + 3 days for postal delays. But how long does it normally take?

Not received anything yet. So that's 6 days down.
