perhaps if any of you were indeed local they might like you to join the discussion.

if i'd started a local scheme (of any kind) with a supporting website i wouldn't be too interested in the opinions of people who only know the area from photos & google earth.

residents, schools, road users & local businesses maybe... but having an influx of road safety idealists (perhaps not the right term?) might not exactly be why the site was set up.

That's possibly true, but why then did they come here in the first place? Just to stick two fingers up?

who came here ?

Yeah! That was my original question - it doesn't make sense (not that 'sense' appears to have much to do with it).

Perhaps the residents MAY have some genuine concerns, I really don't know. What-ever, one thing is for sure, they aren't willing to discuss it!

On the one hand, there is the evidence of the judgement of many drivers who seem to think that a speed of 40-45 mph is NOT unreasonable (the results seem fairly constant). i.e. if you were to de-restrict the road alltogether........... 40-45 mph would be the average! NOT 60 or 70! Drivers therefore are adjusting their speed.

It would be interesting to see the times of the speeds quoted. Do they reduce when the roads are busy with children? And increase at quiet times? Are drivers therefore reacting to conditions?

I guess we'll NEVER know because: "They know best!"........and they won't discuss it. Sounds like "Mob Rule" to me......

I wonder what people like these thought about the accident in Yorkshire this week involving a school bus...........caused when a child ran into the road!

DIDN'T THE PARENTS OF THE CHILD OR ANY OF THE T2000 BRIGADE TEACH THE CHILD THAT IT WAS DANGEROUS TO DO SO!........

or was it a speeding.........SCHOOL BUS? I despair........
]]Oh ja Read that one.

Other children testify that driver swerve to avoid one stupid teenager und maim sensible ones as result.

I doubt he was "speeding" but a large bus hitting at low speed can kill. My cousin died at low speed impact after all.

My prayers are with those children & their families. I will also light candle for the driver too. He must feel inconsolably upset over this too.

I do not walk into roads. I live in area where walking ist pleasure. But most do respect roads. They know cars or bikes or bicycles will use them. It called consideration of another road user to apply courteous common sense

Ach sorry - I forget. Silliest me. Manners in this millennium are considered quaint. But pee-cee excuses for the terminally pathetic ist apparently fine by "them"

But back to web site owner. Beware the internet troll who not remotely interested in anything but own ego in reality.

Be aware that some will register to this site by way of cathartic relief to a ping.

Be aware that few of the regulars have penalty points. Some may well have three points or be fighting a rogue case.

Be aware that all regulars want a fair assessment as to whether or not their exceeding lolly was a justified action or a minor blip. Neither warrant penalty in reality. A policeman would use common sense. A robot cannot do much other than take things literally without understanding or thought.

Do I speed? Not really. I apply COAST values though. I want to indulge grandchildren after all.

I wonder what he's afraid of. His forum isn't exactly fizzing, is it? (presumably because he's banned everyone).

A brief scan shows 'michael' left his contact details open for all to see. Might it be worth a phone call Paul?

If I were Michael, I would change his registration details. If I were taking photos of vehicles and making complaints where potentially someone could lose their job, I wouldn't want it coming back to me.

if you look in the galleries you can see all the replies sent by companies whose vehicles have been caught speeding.....i dont think anyone on the site has spotted they are standard 'placate the loony' letters :D

I well spotted, I was thinking the same thing.

Just looked at the forum... "9 registered users" - who have posted an earth-shattering 4 articles. I guess that if the deletion rate amongst the SS brigadeis anything like representative, he's not finding all that many who actually agree with his somewhat anal approach to road safety.

That really is quite offensive. It's a gross misrepresentation of our position for a start.

Dear Michael

The new post on your forums at:
http://stanleyhill.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=11#11 is inaccurate and offensive.

1) What is said in the public forums is not necessarily indicative of Safe Speed
campaign policy. We only censor for acceptable behaviour and standards of
decency. We certainly do not ban posters for their views - although it seems you
do not have such standards.

2) There has been no plan to 'infiltrate' your forums. There is no wrath.

3) We're not even remotely extremists. We're demanding an urgent return to the
road safety policies that gave us the safest roads in the world and the fastest
improvements. We've lost both crowns, and our rate of improvement in now 17th
out of 20 European countries. Do you think that's acceptable?

4) We have absolutely no interest in discrediting you. We have discredited the
information upon which you rely long ago.

If you want a serious discussion about road safety you can have it on our forums
or we could appoint an ambassador to post on yours.

And remember, the Safe Speed campaign only exists because road safety policy
isn't working. Road safety isn't a simple matter of legal compliance - it's a
complex matter of human behaviour.

You'll probably want to reconsider the offensive post.
