I was followed by a marked police car the other day, it followed me wlist i was speeding, but he did not pull me over. Will he be able to 'do' me for speeding later, maybe if he had a camara on board his car? if so what are my opitions?

You noticed a marked police car following you but you didn't slow down?

Anyway, either he wasn't bothered or he used his discretion and decided that you were driving safely for the conditions.

i was doing 95 and there was nothing behind me, and then out of know were he appeared, i slowed as soon as i saw him!!!!

You don't have anything to worry about. If he didn't stop you on the road then you're not getting anything.

Slightly related story. One time I was doing 60 in a 50 on a completely empty dual carriageway and a marked car flew up behind me at about 90-100 without his lights on. I slowed down to 50 and they pulled up alongside me and held up five fingers to indicate the speed limit. I had already slowed so I kept going at 50. They pulled in front and sat at about 45 for 3 or 4 mins, forcing me to go slower. After this they accelerated away up to at least 80 as they sped off, again without their lights on.

I don't know what they were trying to do. If they were trying to make a statement about keeping to a 50 limit on an empty dual carriageway it failed, as by their own example it is clearly safe to do 90-100.

as it happeded i was pulling off at the next slip road anyway, he follewed me down and i thought, oh great but i then noticed the other side that there was a police van with another marked car. when i turned left at the bottom he turned right, i think to join with the others. on my way back down the otherside of the dual carrageway they were still there now with 2 unmarked cars! i was worried in case they caught me with there camara on board and did me afterwards

I guess he decided that you got the message. Had you not been observant then you would defintely have gotten pulled for doing 95.

Back in "The good old days" I got the distinct impression that that realised that you had seen them (and slowed down accordingly) generally concluded that you were competant enough to drive at that speed.

I can remember back in the 80's I was doing a "Sensible" 85 or so on the M-way L3, A came up behind *at speed* with Blues-and-twos. It was pretty clear this wasnt for my benefit but L2 was chocker and going somewhat slower (ie getting out of Mr 's way would have meant bleeding off 30MPH or so and then finding a gap!) I could see a gap some way ahead (Past the HGV in L2 ) and decided to "Go for it" instead!

By the time I had passed the "Rolling roadblock" and was able to pull over into clear road I was going (Hint. A Jag V12 can kickdown to 2nd at 85 )

As passed the passenger gave me a nice little wave of grattitude.

Dont think I would do this nowadays though .

a) I would be doing 70
b) I would either brake to 55 and try to find a gap in L2
or c) plod on at 70 untill L2 was clear!

no mate, it was broad daylight!!. i was on my bike and there was no one behind me and the next thing i knew there was a big volvo behind me!!. i knew that i had looked in my mirrors only moments before, he must of been flying to catch me! i shat my pants, i think what may have saved me is that i rolled off the throttle and didnt slam the brakes on. i always think that if you slam the brakes on they will give you a telling off for that too, at the end of the day the chances are you will get done for speeding anyway so whats the point in panicking?

Haha, it was early summer evening and very bright. I meant they didn't have their blue flashing lights and sirens of course.

I have had simillar experiences recently, joining the M25 from the M20 in the dry at *some* speed (triumph sprint, probably third gear.....) two unmarked cars came up behind me at a very very great speed (i mean i had clear tarmac 200M+ in both directions, rear checks every 5-10 seconds and they appeared from nowhere). I am guessing they were doing around 130-140 although its very hard to judge accurately.

I eased off and dinked left between slower moving cars as they closed and passed me. Both had 4 coppers in. The passsengers on the left waved 7 fingers and left at great speed.
