hi all, In our pub last night one of the lads said that all mobile speed camaras as in LTI 20-20, only need calibrating once a year ,surley this cannot be right.It has got to be calibrated before and after uese, can anyone solve this argument.

There is calibration and there is calibration.

True calibration requires specialist equipment.

The daily checks are supposed to check that zero is in fact zero. It is not calibration as such.

Not to mention checking that the scope is aligned with the laser. this should be done each day and at the site by turning the LTI to sound test mode and passing the laser over a nearby street lamp in verticle and horisontal plane. the sound changes when the beam detects the pole and should line up with the cross hairs

the device is CALLIBRATED once a year. the laser and scope alignment should be checked at each site and adjusted if required. Also the zero mph reading should be checked hrough the enfocement session.

So the answer to the original question is "CALLIBRATED once a year."
