I think this is Parrot's area as I understand he hails from the Trafford area of Urmston/Flixton and perhaps Peter as he's Stockport..
As you know - both my two younger sisters live in the Worsley area of Manchester. One works as a teacher in Bolton and the other is a teacher in Altrincham. The Altrincham one mailed me a couple of weeks ago and I have pasted the section here.
Joe and Angela are IG's brother and sister... who serve with GMP by the way. Long cop tradition ... and I rather think at least on of IG's kids will end up a cop!)

Ted.. Have a question for those internet posters to debate. I think I already have an explanation from Charles, Joe and Angela.. but I am still wondering about this.
It's just this.
You know I told you about the truly awful overtakes in this 30 zone .. at the school and on approach to the pelicans some time back. You told me to complain to the prats. I did. I showed you my letter - which I kept nice and politely to point - and they responded with the VAS signs.. which I think a "result". But I think I believe here what I'd like to think on this one. They only replied , after all, that they noted my concerns!
You know I told you about those rather good VAS near Broadoak School as you come out of the 40 straight into the 30 at Partington - and the school and pelicans.. and then again on the Flixton Road just before the bend into Flixton and up to the railway station. I do think they are a very good idea in any case. I love the way it flashes the cam sign near the school and the sharp bend as you approach Flixton. I have only praise to the Manchester pratnership over these. I would like to think my letter to them played a part after all.
But my question is this and it has been in my mind whenever I use this route on my way home.:
When does the 30 mph start?
The road from the traffic lights used to be 60 mph and was reduced to 40 mph. About 200 yards from the twin 30 mph lollies... the VAS is stationed - warning of 30 mph limit and the sharp 90 degree bend. There is a 30 mph painted white circle on the road.
But Ted.. this is at least 200 yards from the twin lollies which are positioned at the bridge and are 100 yards distant from the sharp right.
am usually at 30 mph by the lolly. But I would like to know where they would place a speed cam given the location of the VAS , the painted marks and the lollies.
If I can - will take a quick photo. It has a narrow footpath and a cycle lane - painted in when they lowered the speed lmit as I understand. I think I will ride my bike out there over the hols if fine weather and take a photo for you.
When I get her photo. might be clearer

I do know the road anyway as know North Trafford Hospital's location. But she has a point.. why is the 30 mph paint so far from the twin lollies and if you are driving above 30 mph up to the lollies ... would you then be braking the law?
I base this on the Ings discussion on the late CSCP site

and our Steve's comments at the time...
