as a driver, is there any way you would do a shift for free?

i have to say yes there is but only once. after that i want normal pay rates for my services :D

a few months ago i had my first go in a V8.

it turns out its just a 4 series that makes a nice sound. pulls like a little girl and is just as uncomfortable as any other 4 series.
knowing the actros however, i have decided that my dream machine would be the actros V8 560. if someone offered me one of them for a day i would do the job for nothing! any other spec, no but this one i would definately be tempted just for the pleasure of driving it. only if its a trunk though. im not working for nothing. im not that daft. a day on the motorway is one thing but im not doing multi drop or town/city centre driving for free

When my mate and I Passed our tests in 1985.. we egged each other on to take the test.... We ended up working a solid month for NOTHING Summer holiday relieving jsut to break the "No experience, No Job - No Job, No experience" cycle.

It caused uproar locally.. Unions were up in arms.
But we got Jobs at the end of it when there were no jobs. The country was coming out of a major (Thatcher) recession.

As for driving a truck.. I'd drive an A series ERF if the money's there !!

THIS is a 560.. I will readily admit the power is awesome. But I wouldn't drive it for Nowt without an exceptional reason.

i didnt have to go quite that far. i had a little experience of commercial driving when i moved to bulford. i chose an agency and they wouldnt consider me til i was 23 years oldl i kept going back then they only gave me a shot because i offered to go out as a drivers mate to learn the ropes. when i left the army they took me on full time
