I was wondering if anybody could answer this question.
It is the responsibility of the driver to keep completed tachograph charts for the ?? week plus the ?? ?? ?? of the previous week in which he drove. completed charts must be returned to the employer within ?? days.
I would be eternally grateful for any help!!!

I THINK you have to keep 'em for 21 days before returning them, but the rules is changing as of jan 1st...

From the 1st Jan 2008 they changed it so drivers have to have the current day plus the previous 28 days worth of tachographs on them.

Supposedly there is to be no leeway from VOSA whilst the new laws take effect, if your driving today would have to have tachographs going back to
11/12/07 (I think) even though it doesn’t seem to have been widely publicised. So if you have already handed in your old tachos under old rules could be in trouble even though you would hope VOSA wouldn’t be that anal.

I heard about it by chance at the end of November, supposedly they still haven’t changed the laws with regard to returning tachographs, your still supposed to hand back tachographs after 21 days even though thats supposed to change sooner or later.

So doesn’t matter what you do your breaking the law, seems to sum up trucking these days.

sorry but this has been in the pipeline for over 2 years (thats how long i have known about it). We now carry 28 days of charts and it is expected that we hand them in within 42 days. It is still 21 at the moment?
Hi kenny, long time no see. What are you up to these days?

True it has been in the pipeline for awhile but unless you are reading up on industry news would have come as a bit of a shock to a lot of people. Where i was working before xmass not many people knew about it.

Just glad i only really seem to drive vehicles with digi tachos.

I'm good Scanny, good to see you back online. I'm driving shopping trolleys just now, big orange ones for a place in EK. Its not bad lots of work, rare for a shift to be under 12 hours as many days as i wish, so going good espec since its the agency dead period.

Mostly working for Sainsburys these days so in and outta their stores, its an allright number. I'm sure i saw an Iceland Volvo awhile back with your numberplate in the window on the M8 near Edinburgh.

quite likely. I spent 6 months with them. Now its mainly boots, dhl, dalkeith, business post or christian salvesens. A lot of it is last minute shifts. That time of year :(

Salvestons in Newhouse ?

I worked for them for a bit, they still got that old Daf with the knackered speed limiter ? I drove it one night shows 55mph on speedo, and goes by everything on the road, even flying past all the Reid motors when they were running.

I didnt mind Salvestons, was easy enough doing their trunks, just pay sucked with the agency i was with when working with Salvestons plus its a bit of treck for me to get to.

I was with DHL/Excel outta Bellshill for ages before Xmass was allright but worked dried up so at Sainsbury's its ok getting loads of work and its closer to home and be hard pushed to say it is hard work.

thats the place. The last one i drove was a Y reg. I lost high range in dundee. Luckily i was in the west gourdie ind est where the daf garage is. They had it for 3 1/2 hours. I got out of there and it cut out 200 yards up the road
The general haulage isnt bad on class 1. Whether its salvesens, dhl (mossend) or dalkeith (cumbernauld). Its a lot easier than when i did that kind of thing on class 2

Most of the time i worked in Salvestons got hit with the Y-reg Daf's.

They are fun going up hills with a heavy load sitting at 35mph !

Got a 05 plate one night thought great, it started to rain and the rain came pouring in the sun roof !

Most of the people in there seemed pretty decent, only shift i hated was the Velux one going out to Glenrothes four times 12 hour shift was boring as hell.

been to that place. Im just glad they didnt make me put the trailer next to the dock. The 1 i picked up was at the front and i had a hell of a job getting it out without damaging the curtain. The curtain was pulled forward so i couldnt see a damn thing. It was caught between the trailer and the dock so it couldnt pull it back. I had to ease the trailer out stopping every couple of feel to adjust the curtain until it was clear. What a place

For the others, this particular site requires the trailer parked alongside a loading dock close enough to allow a FLT to cross the gap. The gap is literally 2 or 3 inches wide

Yip thats the one, i had to put it along side the loading dock.

You have also got to put a glove or somthing on the wind deflector so it sits in a bit, otherwise it will catch the dock.

Keep completed charts for current week plus last working day of previous week. But this is an old question where did you get it?

Hand in at earliest oportunity or within "! days if I remember, however if you are working abroad this can be extended.
