The bottom line is people buy aftermarket exhausts for the noise and (minimal) performance gains. I can't imagine anyone going into a dealership and saying "Can I order the latest Yoshimura system please for my GSX-R 1000? I need it prrimarily for safety reasons so people can hear me coming when I'm filtering through traffic in rush hour".

so, what your saying is, that wind noise will damage your hearing

Yes, it certainly will due to the frequency of the sound
adam.L wrote:
but over 100db of exhaust noise won't and that everyone in the 1 mile radius that can hear your bike screaming it's nuts off are just as enthusiastic about your pride and joy as you are.

Different frequency....My personal pride and joy is road legal anyway, so there (sticks tongue out)

As to FJSrider and main beam, I was being a devils advocate there to see if anyone bit :D. I personally filter at a very low speed, and if a cage driver doesn't want to move out of the way, then I will pretty soon get past him/her due to the nature of traffic flow

But according to another post of yours, you say that headlights don't make us visible. Or is it only main beam that does?

I haven't, or you are quoting me out of context.

Where? Put up or shut up.

On this thread http://www.safespeed.org.uk/forum/viewt ... c&start=20

I've either totally misunderstood you, or you are saying or implying that headlights don't help get bikers seen.

And do you always have to be so aggressive?

But pulling out on bikes doesn't contravene any HC Rules?

And do you always have to be so rude?

It's people like you that give bikers a bad name...

I am seriously trying to understand you, but surely being seen by other road users IS of benefit?

Please note the absence of rudeness & aggression...

Well, when you understand the use of emoticons, you will not look quite as much as the thing you called me which is very rude and uncalled for on this forum and certainly breaches the acceptable use criteria - that is a personal attack and offensive

Cage? The sooner that riders get this stupid 'them and us' scenario out of their heads the better. We share the roads with other vehicles. I suspect you drive a car too, so stop thinking of 'them' as different when you sometimes wear silly clothing and ride a 'blade'.

Well, they are driving steel cages with no observation. I regularly drive a car, but I tend to observe other road users. I do not ride a blade either. In fact to me, it sounds like you have issues with other classes of riders. At no point have I denigrated the type of bike you appear to ride, so why are you attacking me when you are not even aware of the bike(s) I ride?

Dear me.

My nickname has nothing to do with riding a "blade", it is my old CB handle from many years ago.

Please cease and desist your personal attack, I have already reported your behaviour to Paul. It is totally uncalled for as I have not attacked you in this manner.

I will not respond to any more of your unthought out responses

I have very limited time today to deal with arguments amongst posters.

Anyone continuing with ad hominem arguments will be immediately suspended pending the availability of time for consideration of the facts.

You have been warned.

Are you being obtuse on purpose? I have said that daytime headlight use is not beneficial and can even be counter-productive. I have not said that anyone isn't being seen - headlights or not. You can be seen in the dark without headlights if others actually look.

Now, again, find where (in context) I ever said 'that headlights don't make us visible'.

If drivers don't look properly, which a lot of them don't, then they won't see a bike. Agreed.

So a headlight won't work. Agreed?

From your posting in the Worst Rule In The Highway Code thread...

From your posting in the Worst Rule In The Highway Code thread...

 Try again.

Ummm, are you now denying you said that?

Allow me to help...
