Going West bound on curve of A8 DC approaching junction access area in central res. of A8. Looking down the A8 further west there is a double line of cones on central reservation. As I approached the cen. res. there was one silver car just passing east-bound I saw no other car approaching.
Whilst still moving at approx. 15MPH I crossed the East-bound A8 to access Ind. est. When I was crossing the A8 I saw a red Ford P100 Sierra pick up approach about 50MPH on overtaking lane. and about 50 feet away. If I had pulled in to the path of this vehicle from standstill there would have been a significant collision but luckily I still had momentum from travelling West bound on A8.
The reason (s) I think I never saw said pick up is probably because it was coming straight at me (due to the slight bend in the approaching east-bound road matching with my position) so no real movement observed and the red cones blending in with the red colour of the truck. I think the cones played a significant role in this as I have crossed this junction many times with no problems, and the view is otherwise unhindered for about 500m.
