I was cruising up a nearly empty A5 last summer NSL on SC when I came up behind two lorries struggling up a long straight hill. I hung back and the speed gradually dropped to about 40. I had a long look up the road nothing coming the other way or from behind so decided to overtake both lorries at once. There was very little room between them.

I changed down and just as I got somewhere near the front of the first lorry I noticed a very dim orange light flickering faintly through a mud spattered lens on rear of front lorry.

As I noticed that so the front of the lorry started to cross in front of me to turn into a farm entrance on my right.

Luckily the combination of my speed and the width just at the farm entrance gave me room to get around him but it was a very near miss.

There were no farm buildings visible and I certainly didn't see any warning signs about entrances. It wasn't until I got close that I even realised the entrance was more than a break in the grass verge.

A stupid mistake on my part and I learnt a lesson but it made me realise how everything is not always as it appears.
