Not really a near miss as nothing actually happened, just odd behavior from another driver.
On the A1 in L1 happily driving quite late at night with the cruise-control set, came up to a roundabout just as a big 4x4 comes up quite close behind me (old merc thing - ML??). We were the only 2 cars on that section of road for some distance.
No problems, knocked off the CC and kept left on the r/about, expecting him to come flying past (he wasn't hanging around before hand).
He stayed very close behind me on the r/about and then pulled out sharply into L2 as we exited and floored it. I pressed 'resume' on the cruise-control and relaxed, having given up on the boy racer stuff some years ago and having a sleeping baby in the back.
Unfortunately, the cruise-control left him standing (and i'm not willy-waving here, I drive a diesel focus!) and this seemed to drive him crazy. He (eventually) pulled alongside and hung there flashing his lights and sounding his horn before pulling just ahead, then braking sharply to draw level before doing the same again several times. He eventually pulled into L1 in front of me and braked quite sharply to force me to slow down (which I was already doing as soon as I saw him move over) and then sped of into the distance.
No collisions or anything, just very very odd. I presume he thought I was some boy racer trying to 'burn him off' from the r/about.
Anything I should have done differently?
