A cyclist, aged 57, has been seriously injured in a crash in Bolton.
The accident happened at 2.15pm on Lever Park Avenue in Horwich, at its junction with Fearnhead Avenue.
According to initial reports from police, the man has suffered a suspected serious neck injury after he was hit by a car.
The emergency services attended and the road was partially blocked while the man, was being treated.
He has been taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital.
The man was injured when his pedal cycle came into collision with a blue Mazda saloon car driven by a woman.
An eye witness said: "It looks like a serious accident. The guy was on his face in the road."
Inquiries are ongoing
Heart felt feelings to ALL involved so who was "to blame". Hope for the lady and her family that the cyclist makes it. Hope for the cyclist and his family that he makes a full recovery and continues riding safely.
Whatever the outcome - I would hope the driver learns the importance of COAST style driving - which means you see the cyclist and adjust accordingly. There's logic in COAST.
