I read with some disppointemtn at the culture that appears among some cyclists , which blames everyone else for their problems

Though the vast majority of cyclists are responsible - and most of the time it is someone else's fault
[/i] a minority of cyclists need to think about their actions.


Although councils are clearly at fauilt for the state of our roads, all road users should leave adequate stopping distances and escape routes .

It;'s no good to blame the council when you ding a wheel after hitting a pothole

Riding inot a puddle when you cannot see what it conceals is a bit daft.

I have also seen riders and officials driving away from events using mobile hands held phones

Recently you featured a rider who had DVT after a 24 hour solo drive back from the South of France That was in the same week that we were celebrating the conviction of a driver who killed a cyclist after driving whilst overtired

I know thios will sit uncomfrotably with some people. It is not about letting councils and motorists off the hook - but if we cannot set decent standards ourselves as we expect from others - then we will lose the battles
