No! Not me and that riff raff
Letter in CW and I sure hope the guy recovers. Signs appear good as he appears able to type or write a letter to CW anyway
I wish him a speedy recovery and if what he says is true - he's been very lucky and he has one heck of a weird sister. At least the Swiss ooze chocs and a genuinely felt sympathy!

I have notices a phenomenum previously suspected but now confirmed;
all non-cyclists think ALL cclists are the devil's spawn
No.. just a few loonies in cyberspace mate. Most of us including the Hamster are cyclists as well. Once bitten - forever smitten!

In early October whilst out on my fave Sunday loop - I was hit from behind whilst cycling uphill by a car doing over 40 mph I was knocked out, hospitalised and have a broken back
I think the guy is lucky to be alive and all credit to him to be able to type this out for us. Honestly and sincerely - CW reader called Max - I do wish you a seedy recovery and hope you are back on your fave Sunday loop as soon as you are ready.
I think I see why you are getting a bit annoyed and I confess I am surprised at your circle of pals here. I think you need a better circle of pals.

what has astounded me is how comfortable people are at telling me they cannot stand cyclists even though they know how I got here
People who visit me in hospital regale me with tales of how they have seen cyclists on pavements
Ahh.. the militant muesli muncher. They really do the cycling cause no good..

My sister cannot stand them because she was almost hit by one once
I know - Krissi was on the horns of a dilemma over the incident with her child and herself on that horse of hers that time.

I was even woken by nurses log-rolling me who proceeded to discuss the time a pedestrian was hit by a cyclsit and how they should be banned!
No-oh! They cannot all have read the rabid outpourings of the insane somewhere.
This letter appears in this week's CW by the way, I am typing what Max of Brighton writes. I can only think these people read the negatives somewhere. I think more focus on the positives and less "us and them" back biting and we may achieve a reasoned road safety policy.

It seems as if people have all had one bad experience of a cyclist (imagined or otherwise) then all cyclists are evil. Yet I would never presume all motorists are awful because one was not concentrating and hit me
Max - I do think the militants who do the CM nonsense and rant off into cycber space harm rahter than enhance the situation and any campaign for safety and decent facilities for cyclists.
Am very much pro-cycling and some persons post rabid nonsense on some sites which would otherwise make pleasant and informed reading. Just spite for the sake of it.

My rehab starts around Christmas and will be back on two wheels as soon as possible. SO you cyclist haters had better watch out

I admire this fighting talk and hope Max of Brighton recovers well and fights back like Emma Davies Jones. I am sure all here wish CW reader Max all the best and like me - will reassure him that we deplore hit and runs and that by harping on the COAST message - we hope people will take some note and really look at their driving, biking and cycling skills to keep themselves as safe as they can.
