Dutch have shown imagination in providing for cyclists with a cycle rolling road bridge (CW report)
Simailr to rolling walkways in airports - the 2.5 million euro bridge spans a new freight rail project in Rotterdam. It was financed by the Rotterdam council and the regional government.
There was concern that cyclists would lose accessibility due to increased road and rail movement as the route rises sharply and the heavy single gear Dutch bikes (the norm - these bikes are not like the roadies and hybrids whose ignorant riders - even Red Ken is losing patience with in London)
A gradual ramp would have taken up valuable land space as would a tunnel and even a lift.. so they decided to build a rolling roadway.
CTC national councillor lamented that UK could not ever decide on such a crafty solution
