Thanks to Paul for accepting my request to participate in here.

For my part, I bring to the table a degree in electronic engineering from the late 70s, lots of software authorship and management (high level and embedded), a few patents to my name in electronics, optics and protocols - and more recently acquired much ken in process engineering (welding, plating, furnacing... ).

Oh - and I know a thing or two about cars ;-)

Looking forward to giving and learning.

My background is aircraft engineering with 27 years or so maintining military aircraft hydraulic systems, pressurisastion, structures and materials, fuel systems, engines and other mechanical services.
My current speciality is gas turbine engines, I teach the subject since leaving the service. Anyone want to know anything about jets and how they weigh up against piston engines, I'll have a bash at answering your question.

Thanks to Paul for the chance to contribute:

Background: BEng(Hons) degree in Civil Engineering and Management, studying Highway Engineering in third and fourth year.

Two year contracting experience in road construction, one year as a structural engineer and three years experience in Local Authority roads departments designing new build and maintenance projects for various kinds of road schemes (including *gulp* traffic calming).

So anything road design/maintenance related, I'll try to answer. I'm a bit of a geek for signing and lining too !

And I'm still on my L plates :)
