This forum has been set up on request to hold technical discussions. 'Technical' in this case applies to scientific and technical subjects requiring some degree of special or professional knowledge. Safe and Advanced driving are NOT technical subjects for the purpose of this forum.

In order to make the discussion as efficient as possible ordinary forum members are not automatically allowed to post here. All posters are individually approved.

If you wish to be considered for approval, please send a brief email giving relevant background information to carmstrong@safespeed.org.uk

Not sure how this particular area is intended to develop. Meanwhile, given http://www.safespeed.org.uk/forum/viewt ... 2268#62268 can I suggest a preemptive invite?

Agreed. I'm not sure we thought it through properly. Not much is happening.

Of course you can. But efficiency would be well served if you just did it. :)

I think a lot of discussion of technical matters seems to take place on the other forums. For example, Myself, civil engineer and safety engineer have had an interesting discussion on SMA in another thread.

Just my 2p. of course, the above would be an ideal discussion for this forum, but how do we decide which thread goes where and make sure the right people start it? :)

I guess if a thread in the wider SafeSpeed world starts drifting off topic through either diversity or other reasons, we should continue it in here with the first post referring to the earlier discussion (possibly also with an introductory abstract/précis).

As for starting one in here stand alone... I guess the only real reason to want to do so here rather than elsewhere would be to seek opinion from the team within. Remember, this particular area is actually not *primarily* intended as a road safety bucket (although vehecular activities have dominated it so far).

My view of this forum is that it serves two purposes.

1. a place where technical matters can be discussed without boring others or having erroneous/ill informed arguement. And for that i think there needs to be active moderation to 'rescue' technical threads from other areas.

2. By collecting together those with 'technical' or 'specialist' expertise it can deonstrate that safe speed isn't populated by drooling motorheads but serious minded people who can hold own against anyone.
