On sunday (02/04/2006) I was caught speeding in a 30 zone, at 41mph. Unfortunately I hadnt seen the policecar and carried on driving, and on reaching the 60 zone, sped up in excess of 60. (My car is hard to see out of the rear window!) When i did see him, i pulled up imediately, and admitted my mistake. After grovelling, he agreed to give me a FPN for the 41 in the 30 mph zone, instead of the worse offence (possibly loss of license). However, now i have looked at the ticket again, I do not recognise the offence code, and have not been able to find it on any websites. The code is E1603. I would be very gratefull if you could tell me what this code means, and what sort of penalty I am likely to get.

Thanks

Andy

E1603 is probably a force-specific code for the ticket he's issued.

A standard fixed penalty for 41 in a 30 would be 3 points (SP30 on your licence) and £60 fine.

Hi Andy sounds like you may have been lucky there (sort of  )
another mention of this code in this post

http://www.safespeed.org.uk/forum/viewt ... 6a265658fe

I hope the copper didn't hoodwink you was there anything in writing with the actual speeds detailed, if so should be ok.
Just reading through that post again I think you need to phone the ticket issuing Police Force to double check as the post says he was told it was for 50, 60 ect. sorry about that if this is the case.

Hi, yeah, fairly lucky i think too! next to the code, he has written 'excess speed - 41' so i guess hes not trying to prosecute me for anything other than the 41 mph. took my license in tonight anyway. the woman behind the desk wasnt sure about the code either, and didnt want to find out, but she did say it would be 3 points. so guess it must just be another code for sp30. Should have really got her to find out. If it comes back as anything diferent, ill be a bit peeved tho!

Thanks again

andy

Wouldn't a cyclist coming from a side road give way to traffic on the major road he was attempting to join? :?
