hi i think i went through 1 of them spec speed cameras i know i was doing between 45 - 55mph, its a temporary 50 mph limit, would i have been caught as i left the motorway with out going through a second one, at least i think i did, Also, are these cameras even working because i can't find anything on the internet about them, whats the tolerance triger speed on these cameras as well, i have heard its 10% plus 2mph is this true for all camera types.

cheers.

Hi there soroczyn2008.

The important thing to remember with specs is that they are average speed cameras and are in pairs, spaced out over some distance.

The effect of this is that (a) it doesn't matter if you pass one at a bit over the limit, and (b) as long as your average speed was below the trigger speed, you're in the clear.

I don't know if the trigger speed is (10% + 2) mph with specs but I assume so - anyone?

It is worth noting that the current generation of specs cameras are set up lane-by-lane, i.e. the first camera in each lane is _only_ linked to one of the second set of cameras (USUALLY the camera covering the same lane), so a judicious lane change between cameras is a good licence insurance policy  .

Seen SPECS all over the place now - but noticeable thing is that (in a lot of places )there's only one unit ---is this giant kidology at work ????

The SPECS 2 systems works to the lane below, and the one next to it.

Sadly SPECS 3 systems work with connections between all cameras throughout the length of the cameras.

I do not have the allowance speed threshold for SPECS ... sorry I will see what I can find out.
