Just got caught doing 39 in a 30 by my local bobby using a handheld laser gun. (yep I know its my fault for not paying attention). I have three questions that are bugging me.

Question 1:

Do the Police have to use a detector within an area or stretch of road that clearly shows the Speed Camera signs or can they stand on any road an use it?

Question 2:

Should the Policeman have filled in his details on the ticket?

Question 3:

Should I have been cautioned?

It was a fixed penalty notice

1) did you surrender (or at least show) your license or any other identification at the stop?

2) Has your full name, date of birth, correct unambiguous location and the distance at which you were LTi2020ed been transcribed correctly to the ticket?

3) At the very least PC Plod I believe should have entered his PCxxxx number. No other details are needed on his part - the PC number is unique in the county of issue (and maybe further) and any correspondence you may choose to send will reach him.

slow down and keep within the limit its not rocket science.
