Try the pepipoo site - mate.

We do not have fixed cams in my patch. Depends on how the officer judged the situation as to whether a fixed or court would be issued in this non-partnership area.

You may get an NIP or they may decide this must be heard in court as I think at 18 mph over.. you are at the "court appearance" threshold.

If you get a Fixed three ponter and £60 - accept it. You will have got off fairly lightly.

If you are unlucky and this ends up in the courts.. then all I can suggest is consult a decent lawyer to mitigate. Do remember that the courts can add costs..

I do not think we are in "ban" territory based on what has been observed in courts to date based on what you say - if that's any comfort to you. But do visit the pepippo site should this be a "court issue" Those guys can advise you on how to present yourself in a reasonable light in court. You are entitled to all legal advice. I would suggest seeking the advice of a lawyer if the partnership decide the 18 mph above limit warrants a court appearance. In our patch .. it would really depend on thae stndard of driving observed. Having said that.. we are no soft touch  just because we do not use fixed speed cameras to enforce orderly behaviour patterns here  We do not tolerate "silly"

Perhaps you were exceeding the speed limit for the class of vehicle you were driving.

He said he was! However, I suspect that the vehicle he was driving has a MAM over 7.5 tonnes - and so has a 40 mph speed limit on S/C NSL roads. Yet the scammers have done him for 58 in a 50. IOW, they've charged him with a lesser offence than he says he committed!

In case you haven't seen it ---some SCP have modified Gatsos that (apparently) can tell difference between car and HGV and Ping accordingly.

They're not modified, they all have two settings. Takes effort to work out whether the vehicle has a lower national speed limit or not though so I think most SCPs set both car and van settings the same.

I was wondering, if you are both exceeding a speed limit AND exceeding the speed limit for the class of vehicle can you be done for both offences or only one? And if so, which one?

Sorry should have been "modified" .
However Warks have found this a "NICE LITTLE EARNER" AND the one going N - S on theA5 at the a444 has had some heated arguements ( not surprising as locals and HGV are gettin peed off )
And the smarmy silly "Smile camera " site boasts of this .
How can you believe that a county is safety concious with this sort of site ( and then one seniour excop admits his product is "licence to print ")

As a fellow HGV driver if you were doing 58mph on a Single carriageway (40MPH) you might have been looking at not only the 18mph being regarded as excessive you could possibly be looking at a "tug" from the Traffic commissioners aka Ms. Beverley Bell!

Something not to be recommended (not from experience incidentally) as I have only seen her once at an LDOY comp. handing out the prizes and to say she was "formidable" is an understatement as I for one would not like to cross her path in court!

If it was a 50 limit you seem to have had what appears to be a 3 pointer and 60 dabs and sent on your way with a "we don,t want you here again" comment.

"To err is human" and we all make mistakes no matter how good we think we might be!
