The A339 from Basingstoke to Newbury is a road with a poor accident record. There is a particular junction which has seen far above its quota of Fatals in the opinion af most users of that road.

So the response from the Scammeras was sto put a couple of Truvelos up, one for each direction on the immediate approach to the junction, these went live about three months ago.

Now they have embarked on road improvements and are in the process of re-engineering the junction. Now that is what was needed but why do I get the feeling that they will be lauding the "sucess of the cameras" come the end of the year?

Predictable and disappointing. Seems a shame when to the south the A339 between Basingtoke and Alton got SIDS and vehicle activated warning signs.

Whilst the dreadful weather was also a factor, it is interesting that this stretch of road saw a reduction of M/C fatalities from 10 (IIRC) in 2003 to 1 in 2004.
