Has anyone who has made a formal complaint about Mr Callaghan's letter received a reply yet? (Apart from the usual time stalling, "we are looking into the matter....")

None have been reported to me so far.

Can we have positive replies only please? A string of 'no not yet' doesn't make very interesting reading! :hehe:

Somebody has, although it's not for public consumption at the moment. Mr. Smith is in reciept of it AFAIK.

We must remember that this is/could be

a) a disciplinary matter
b) a criminal matter
c) both

and therefore people MUST act accordingly and not possibly prejudice things by posting such things publically.

I have copies of 'interim' correspondence. It's unsuitable for pubic posting, but I can tell you that little or nothing has been concluded. And remember we're only halfway through the first round.

Perhaps you're right - er, on the other hand...

Best wishes all,

I, too, have received an up-date and things are definately in-hand at senior officer level.
It would not be appropriate to publish the correspondance on here, but things are happening.

Did they give some sort of time table?

can you give them a 28 day limit before instigating 'failure to furnish' proceedings?

Dont blame us! It's not your run of the mill gossip here, somebody's career might be influenced by this outcome. :nono:

That said, I believe one party expressed the following sentiment on a BBC viewers response page:
Quote:
Come on Ernest, you must really try harder than that, you know very well I don't have any interest whatsoever in keeping my job. I have told you time and time again I don't have to work at all so how would I have any interest whatsoever in attempting to keep up a revenue stream to keep me in a job. I have 2 pensions paying already and business interests that top those up.

So it looks like it's really a bit of a charitable endeavour on somebody's part - very kindly addressing a problem which has yet to be proved as such - in the case of Ings, since the KSI's at that site do NOT seem to have been the result of speeding!

Of course this has yet to be resolved too, since the Westmorland Gazette's FOI request as to the causes of accidents there was refused - presumably on the grounds that it would give the game away, and show that somebody was resorting to quackery, pseudoscience, or some knowingly employed bogus means of impressing people in order to swindle their victims by selling them worthless nostrums and similar goods or services that will not deliver on the promises made for them! :readit:
The local police do not believe speeding is causing KSI's at Ings, they believe other causes are far more prominent. It's just a shame that their voices are not given the public airing afforded by a Safety Camera Partnership budget!
Given sufficient funds, I am sure they could even cook up a survey which showed the public agreeing with them if the right questions were formulated! :typing:

I've just been informed by Cumbria Constabulary that the investigating officer has completed his investigation and the report is currently being prepared.
So, we shall soon see what we shall see.

Of couse in the event of a fudge you would be entitled to refer the matter to the IPCC.

Afterall you would have given the CC the opportunity to answer the complaint first. Fudge would be prima face evidence of collusion between the SCP and Police.
