On the new CSCP redesigned website look at this pearl that they have put on it, note the impact of the comment and the man hours taken to arrive at this shocking discovery:

"In all areas, the majority of fatal and serious injury accidents occurred while vehicles were driving straight ahead or going into left or right hand bends"

WOW! The shock of this revelation, will the brainiac who came up with this at CSCP please stand up and identify themselves.

I hope someone started the clock timing how long it takes for it to disappear from their site, because that's their style after all.

When questioned about it, Steve will claim it deleted itself automatically....

Did you know...
Most fatal and serious injury accidents in the Kendal rural area occur between 12 noon and 5pm

Is that OCCUR or OCCURED?
This is a fantastic revelation.... I shall certainly try and avoid going out on the road between those times in the future.

I think they are looking for a slot on Channel 4's Comedy Store!

Quote:
CSC carries out regular surveys on the county's roads using passive radar devices that record date, time, vehicle class and speed. This, together with accident statistics supplied by the police, enables CSC to obtain an overview of driver behaviour and driving patterns, allowing the management team to create intelligence-led [? :D ] road safety initiatives. The way that Cumbria Safety Cameras implements these is through the Three Es - education, engineering and extortion.

So what intelligent thoughts led to the purchase and installation of the cameras at Ings, with no power supply/broadband signal?

Casualties (KSI) at Ings before cameras 2 in three years.
Casualties (KSI) at Ings SINCE cameras 5 in three years - more than doubled.

If somebody fired a gun up a busy main road, would you (a) Stop them immediately or (b) Send them a penalty in the post.
If somebody is speeding dangerously up a busy main road, would you (a) Stop them immediately or (b) Send them a penalty in the post.
Which policy do "SAFETY" cameras adopt, (a) or (b)?

I actually think "occur" is ok there. However it has occurred to me that "occured" might be a little Callaghanesque, if you get my jist ;-)

Ah yes!

I'm curious to know what the situation was in the inferred minority of fatal and serious injury accidents?

Reversing??

Falling from the sky??

Levitating?

Well, there's this one as well. It now appears that turning left is not as dangerous as first thought

Almost all accidents occur while vehicles were travelling straight ahead although turning right and overtaking also featured in the causation records

NEWSFLASH

CSCP has issued the following decree that must be obeyed in full.

Owing to most crashes occurring when vehicles are heading in a forwards direction, from midnight this evening only crabs will be allowed on the A590, there sideways motion will mean they are immune from crashing.

The M6 has now had the 70mph limit removed for all vehicles with 5 reverse gears.

Motorbikes are to be banned from midnight (sorry Steve) because they have no reverse gear.

Armed police will man the outskirts of Kendal ensuring no vehicles escape to the surrounding rural roads between the hours of 12pm and 5pm, ensuring all accidents between these hours are avoided.

Army tanks will block access to Penrith's rural roads between 12pm and 5pm, they will operate a shoot to kill policy unless you approach them in reverse, and you will then be cleared for onward passage.

In order to maintain the 67% reduction in KSI at camera sites, six injured people in a car will now be classed as one KSI.

Close inspection of the causation statistics has resulted in driving being banned during severe weather conditions, these include sunny wind free days, but driving at night in snow is to be encouraged as long as you stick to reverse.

Commuting in Barrow has been banned and all roads into and out of town are to be pedestrianised with immediate effect.

In a drastic attempt to clear the last few remaining motorbikes following the reversing only driving policy, the army has offered the use of Apache gun ships to remove the remaining bikers from the A686.

In a relaxing of CSCP policy, the Gestapo are to relax there persuasion techniques for gaining support for the use of speed cameras, these measures include the removal of the thumbscrews and the limiting of the rack to just six inches.

Steve Callahagn has been placed on special leave with the Windermere Police, he has gone back to a former roll as a submariner, and occasionally you will see him surfacing above the waves vainly trying to enforce the 10mph speed limit, Steve was most upset to learn that his mini sub no longer had any torpedoes, as this would have added to his enforcement technique.

Market research from CSCP found that 25% of those questioned had been caught speeding, Mr Bin Laden added that he was happy for CSCP and the Police to continue there pursuit of motorists as it left him and his colleagues free to do other things.

With this plan in place CSCP has assured Cumbria County Council that either there will no longer be any speeding in Cumbria ever again, or else the population will have been removed by other means.

Broadband is connected, power is on its way.
KSI's at Ings site boundaries since April 2003 - 1 ( A pedestrian in carriageway impaired by alcohol and acting dangerously on the road at 2240 in February, struck by a vehicle that was unable to avoid collision by actions of the injured party)
Not sure where you got your data from but it's wrong, would you like to withdraw it?

5 being the site KSI criteria - it's on your website. It was 2 KSI last year, now reads 5.

How fast was the drunken pedestrian going then?

To quote you JJ you really haven't got a clue, you provide the figures and then question them?

Maybe if you stuck to facts, and forgot about spin then you would be more up to date.

Anyone bet they could organise the beer for the P**s up??

And the others? Let's have the details of all the accidents, including the ones from the previous years.

Cheers
Peter

This is hilarious JJ. Your correction just makes you look even more foolish. OK, so by the rules any KSI is good enough KSI for a speed camera justification. but why exactly do you want to use incidents a camera can do sweet FA to alleviate to justify the placing of a camera??

What possible motivation could you have except the fact that each new site is a potential revenue raiser?

Choose the words of your answer carefully because you are already a fair distance down a hole of your own digging here......

Like I said mate, Don't talk to us about "experts" when you come out with stuff like that!

One of the more useful definitions that I've seen of "expert" is arrived at by functional decomposition of the word into its individual phonemes... Thus "ex" - "a has-been" and "spurt" - "a drip under pressure". Seems to fit "JJ" to a "Tea".. :-)

Reminds me of that ad for a certain Power company - where shops sold elicitricty in boxes . "A box of P******* please"
"A low loader of electricity is headed for Ings", the suply is getting low.

And in order to stop accidents on bends as per -"In all areas, the majority of fatal and serious injury accidents occurred while vehicles were driving straight ahead or going into left or right hand bends"

What next - roads with no bends - "we'll just tunel under windermere" , and definately no bridges - we haven't seen any caused by cars falling off bridges yet.

I find that statement uniquely rich coming from a guy who helps use flawed data to prop up his speed scameras "save lives" stance.

Proof to the opposite clearly exists JJ, care to withdraw YOUR flawed data and come clean?

No, i didnt think you had the backbone to!

KSI Criteria 5, PIC 12.
LAST years figure was TWO. Ergo, KSI's are more than doubled between the two documents.

Do accidents at Black Moss turning and Staveley road end REALLY count towards KSI Site criteria? (see the map).

The accident which led to some of the residents of Ings campaigning for a limit happened at RESTON, when a Czech minibus driver clipped the kerb, and bounced out into oncoming traffic, striking a motorcycle, killing both riders. NO excess speed, or even inappropriate speed.
Last year two motorcyclists were airlifted to hospital from the same place - on the day the CSCP camera van was at Ings!! No reports of excess speed! Of course we'll never know, because Steve thinks this information should be kept secret!!!!!
It must be something to do with being a submariner I suppose!
