I just heard on the radio this morning that plans were afoot to permanently close all the lay-bys (bies?) along the A74 Cumberland gap. The reporter went on to say that this was a notorious section of road and over the years there had been many accidents involving vehicles pulling out of them.

Now, I was just wondering whether anyone out there had copies of the old threads on the CSCP forum because I'm pretty certain I made precisely that point some time ago and SOMEONE from CSCP (I think it might even have been Steve himself!) said:

"we are not aware of any accidents on the A74 caused in that way"

...or something to that effect!

I seem to remember everyone being a bit surprised at this response at the time!

Now far be it from my mind to use the "L" word, but I was just wondering how much money they've made on that stretch in the intervening time without ever having made the slightest impression on the REAL cause of the accidents!

After all, it would make their 2007 figures look pretty damned good wouldn't it?!
