The local newspaper reports that KSI's have risen from 42 to 62 in 2009.

What's changed you might ask?

Well from what I can see, apart from several "road improvements" which usually mean, reducing speed limits and installing more traffic lights, NOTHING, that I'm aware of, so either we have had a 50% population boom or somethings going wrong at Telford and Wrekin Highway planning, when it comes to road safety measures.

OR-SCP brought in masseur ( fearing death by a hundred cuts), and the KSI figures are feeling relaxed .

It is possibly one of those statistical blips. Just because the tread is, for example, down, doesn't mean every figure would be down. The thing is that if there had been a 50% reduction in KSI's in Telford, the camera partnerships would be jumping up and down about how great they were, it would be all over the news, the sun would always shine and the birds would always sing, etc. But has the blip has been the "wrong" way, they will try to keep quite, they may well have some gentle mutterings about the medicine not working so the dose needs increasing.

The increase is only 20 KSI's, so a couple of bad crashes out of the norm could have caused it. Next year the KSI's will go back to tread and the camera partnerships will be rejoicing about the 50% reduction, while we sit here and have wry smile

My concern is that over the last few years Telfotd Highways have done a LOT of speed limit reducing and road "improvements"...now, if these are increasing the KSIs, questions need to be asked why they are increasing, 20 EXTRA KSIs is not really a couple of extra bumps is it?

The answer seems obvious, they need more speed cameras.
What was the question ?

56 years after it was decided it was needed, the Bedford Bypass is nearing completion. The last single carriageway length of it.We have the most photogenic mayor though, always being photographed doing nothing
