I'm afraid there are "boy racers" out there that are neither mad nor suicidal but just hungry for the feeling they get when they speed and push the limits of their driving on just such roads, but it's the innocent that pay with their lives in these situations. It's very sad.

Andy,

Continuing to reduce speed limits on our A roads will naturally drive 'boy racers' onto quieter back roads, where there is no viable way to enforce any speed limits. It is a no win situation for the limiters, as it would be economically impossible to enforce speed limits on our narrow lanes. There are not enough speed cameras or police patrols to even begin enforcement.

Boy racers such as myself (I'm 60) will always be able evade the limits if they choose to. Of course I would never break a legal speed limit.

C.

Point about boy racers, if you want to play football you go to the pitch, if you want to play golf go to the golf course, imagine the carnage if people played golf on a public space, if you want to have fun in your car the places are limited, especially on the weekend at night when you want to be out driving. The little affordable racing there is is not advertised, track days are bloody expensive and instead of people being let enjoy their driving in a safe place you are made feel like you have a mental disorder if you want to enjoy your car. I appreciate the cost of race tracks but there are areas such as car parks, which are unused at night which if you let the boy racers onto for the night (could charge a small price for damage to tarmac) you could get a lot of dangerous driving on the road by getting it out of their system for the week.
