Interesting idea, but I'd be worried that speed or distance judgements might be affected. We'd need careful tests.
Actually if people are bored on motorways then I think one or more of the following applies:
- They aren't observing or concentrating properly (because, actually, I think there's enough going on.)
- Speeds are below the optimal range (at least for the bored individual)
- They might be driving too close to other vehicles and robbing themselves of good vision ahead. (Imagine tailgating a truck - you can't see anything.)
