151MPH BIKER LOON
Maniac is worst speeder in Britain
By Fiona James
A MOTORCYCLIST was caught doing 151mph in the worst case of speeding on Britain's roads last year.
The lunatic biker was recorded on camera at more than the double the speed limit in Dorset.
He was just one of many offenders who were captured doing well over 100mph, according to a new survey of speed cameras.
The top five offences were all by motorcyclists, with a Kawasaki Ninja clocking up 140mph on the A189, in Humberside. But two of the culprits managed to escape conviction. A biker doing 138mph on the A46 near Coventry avoided prosecution because the officer didn't get an image of the number plate. And an exemption was made for a police car on a 999 call which was flashed at 108mph in a 60mph section of the A41 near Sandford, in Shropshire.
Paul Smith, founder of the Safe Speed road safety campaign, said: "These cameras fail to catch dangerous speeders. Meanwhile, normal motorists, travelling a few mph over the limit continue to stump up in their millions."
