this in the Daily Mail online.
As many as 12% of motorists break the speed limit every time they get behind the wheel, a new survey has revealed.
And 24% speed on each occasion they drive on a motorway, the survey from Churchill Car Insurance found.
As many as 80% of convicted speeders say they have not changed their behaviour after getting a fine or a ban.
And half of drivers say they only stop speeding when they catch sight of a speed camera.
East Anglian drivers appeared to be the least safe motorists, with 16% breaking the speed limit on every trip.
Only 6% of drivers from Yorkshire and Humberside admitted speeding each time they got behind the wheel, but as many as 37% from that area broke the limit on motorways.
Based on responses from 2,026 drivers, the survey also showed 21% of drivers believe speed limits are too low, while 9% do not know the national speed limit and 17% find it too hard to keep to the limit.
Three percent say that they see speed limits as a target to reach and 24% think speed limits should be lower around schools. Around 60% reckon speeding is more acceptable than drink or drug driving.
Darren McCauley, head of car insurance at Churchill, said: "With today's busy lifestyles, it can be easy to fall into bad driving habits and let speeding become the norm."
He continued: "Speeding doesn't carry the same social taboo as drink driving, but can have serious consequences. More drivers need to be more aware that speeding is not simply a minor offence, but instead a major cause of road fatalities."
