One person has been seriously hurt and several others have suffered more minor injuries in a four-vehicle crash on the A9.

Police said the accident involved two lorries, a car transporter and a car.

It happened about one mile south of the Granish junction, north of Aviemore, at 15:05 on Monday.

The road was expected to remain closed for a number of hours while emergency services deal with the incident. Diversions were put in place.

So soon ? after those life savers, cameras were installed ?

...and not to mention so soon after raising the speed limit of HGV's from 40mph to 50mph

Oh! I notice you didn't mention that.

I was wondering when someone would leap to the "obvious" conclusion that speed was the cause... The other one I've been half expecting was "...yes but imagine how much WORSE it had been if there hadn't been cameras there"...). Usual stuff that gets trotted out by the pro-camera lobby whenever it looks like the policy has failed...

The extreme rarity of incidents like this means that neither side can draw any statistical conclusions from one event. We also do not know the cause of the incident.

The very dangerous junction of Whinwhistle Road and the A36 had cameras installed many years ago and only 2 weeks later there was a double fatality accident. There have been none since but a few damage only collisions. The real requirement here is traffic lights not cameras due to the restricted field of view.

Agreed.
My point was only made to highlight the unchallenged glee from the OP and to show how ridiculous his omission was.

I didn't mention ANYTHING, EXCEPT the FAILURE of CAMERAS to prevent ACCIDENTS. Perhaps you might like to explain this.

We had a form in the old civil service for this- it simply said "PLEASE EXPLAIN". Perhaps GS might like to "PLEASE EXPLAIN ,why the cameras ,failed to prevent the accident"( or is he going to make like any old submarine commander ,and submerge to go elsewhere,).
