No link, but there was a feature on London tonight last night showing how TfL's new 'temporary' SPECS system is catching 100 drivers a day 'flouting' a 20 limit on a DUAL CARRIAGE WAY in London.

TfL claim the limit is to protect builders working overhead.

Just how many builders working on buildings have been killed or injured as a result of (i assume) falling in the path of car.

Or how many drivers have been killed or injured due to falling objects that would not have been killed or injured by travelling at 20mph.

Apparently TfL don't want the £2.2M that the camera will generate. Arguably they shouldn't get it either as I'm pretty sure the cameras don't comply with the requirements for the hypothication scamera scheme.

What about the people passing underneath? Would you hang about under a building site??

When these cameras were first put in place. TFL made a great fuss in the news and on the TV saying that they were "not out to catch people... " etc etc.. and that they had put up a speed indication board about 100 yards in front of the cameras to warn drivers of their speed.

If my memory serves me correctly, the speed indication board was working for two days and was then turned off and has not been working since.

I ride this piece of road twice every day, and there is absolutely no justification whatsoever for the 20mph limit there.

Regards,

Russ
