After a telephone tip-off, Safe Speed issued the following PR at 19:12 this evening:

PR435: M11 speed camera goes mad

LBC are reporting that the infamous camera at the south end of the M11 has gone
mad and is flashing indiscriminately causing confusion and danger.

Paul Smith, founder of the Safe Speed road safety campaign
(www.safespeed.org.uk) said: "After years of maddening drivers this infamous
camera has clearly had enough and gone mad itself."

"This raises serious issues of reliability and calibration. Confidence in
cameras is low already - how will we ever know that the camera that issued a
ticket was not 'on the edge of madness'?

LBC are now reporting 'long tailbacks' and attributing them to the crazy camera.
