Our firm has passed the word down that the line manager will be held responsible in the event of a vehicle caught speeding with no named driver - and it is the responsibility of every driver to ensure that the log book is filled in to help them defend any accusation.I have now personally taken to insisting on my driving times being on log book.In the event of a vehicle being off leased - I record time off lease ,with mileage and place ,and keep the logbook, as proof -in case it's caught speeding.

Out of interest, how much would you estimate that this procedure costs your business to operate?

Quite honestly - couldn't care - as long as it results in me personally not getting fitted up for a ticket. All I am doing is to record my driving times etc , to make sure that I have evidence in future (if ticket comes in ) that I was not in control at the given time . Known as protecting my back . It's what modern day driving has come to .

Held responsible in what way?

If they name you as driver then you deny it the courts have to prove who was driving.

Or are they going to have you pay any fine imposed on the company?
