So :scratchchin: why has the goverenmetn decided to axe plans to introduce the yellow school buses across UK?

Well - :scratchchin: - it will cost £125 million per annum to run...

But .. I thought the lives of children was more important and apart from that these buses would be removing the traffic and thus reducing NHS costs as a result. Stats seem to indicate that 40 die on the school run and 900 are injured each year.

Seems a daft U turn to me. I am sure some of the £60 billion paid annually by the 32 million drivers should be going into this fund. A paltry fraction of this is spent of roads and road safety measures at present.

I have had one of those weeks too!

It seems to me you are expecting an outbreak of common sense to have broken out in government!
All too often, one policy is in direct conflict with another - even in local government!
I offered to engrave a wooden sign using mahogany from an old bed headboard - thus re-cycling material which might otherwise become landfill or firewood - but could not because wood from non-sustainable forests is not allowed in local government buildings!

On the road, it is save fuel, drive economically - at ridiculously slow speeds when not necessary! Ings at 40 when 50+ is safe 95% of the time! :x

The prototype failed to give the benefits they had hoped for.

Oh I don't know. Could have useful properties for winter conditions around here, so long as I don't have to pay for the tyres!

Best wishes all,
Dave.
