Now , i always thought that the people complaining had a sense of humour - what bloke would venture out in his night gown , with a tea cosy on his head ,with beachwear on his feet, with no sense of humour??

And they critisise my nation for running around with a short lump of tartan around our middle , no pants and a short knife down our socks

In the unlikely event of ID cards being forced on us - with the present day PC brigade being very PC - and the religious beliefs of some moslem women , to be covered up in the presence of unknown males ( believe that is the reason) -- their religious beliefs - i have mine - they have theirs - as long as they respect mine -i will respect theirs - what picture will be shown on the card - either a black covering with a pair of eyes - could be michel Jackson ( he did try this to shop in Saudi) which would not infringe their religon but not be reliable - or a full face pic - to be shown to who ?? or break their religious codes.

One law for their wives -- now if my wife tried that - what would they do -charge her with???

I believe some of the cartoons are offensive, and some are not, but I still support the right of the newspapers to publish all of them.

People offend and oppose my beliefs all the time, but no-one cares. Why do supernatural beliefs deserve special protection? In any case, why are Islamic laws about non-depiction of the Prophet being quoted as though they applied to non-muslims?

Perhaps someone should translate the saying about the mite in your eye into whatever language they talk --AND THEN ADD THE PROVERB ABOUT PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN GLASS HOUSES AND STONES.

Then we could do with an ammendment to British law - to make all laws equallly applicale to all who LIVE/RESIDE in Britain, irrespective of nationallity or religion.

I once knew a bloke who was a keen young green Special Constable -one night being puppywalked he came across a young gent of uk origons having a pee at the rear of a bulding - said young gent was charged with discharging in a public place. A bit later same SC comes accross an other British subject of slightly darker skin - standing in a fountain peeing and flashing it for all to see - same charge.
Next day - police station besieged by hordes of eastern gents with senior mulla shouting odds - young gent gets off .
First bloke gets court appearance - SC appears in court - to say "i asumed he was peeing" - found not guilty - SC - got out- pissed off - by racial bias -
Need we say more.

If I moved to another country and didn't like it, I'd move back out again.
This principle can be practised by anyone.......

I went to a registry office a while back, and it was in uproar- a huge number of our friends screaming and shouting. The reason? The bride was in full "ninja" gear, just a pair of eyes showing. The lady registrar had asked her to lift her veil because "the laws of this land require me to be sure that I am marrying a man and woman, which cannot be determined by just a pair of eyes, and to the best of my knowledge it is still the laws of THIS land which apply". Good girl, hope she's still got her job.

And with St George's Day not far off, let's see who's the first to ban the red-and-white..........

Now did any one see the front page of today's Daily Express -

"MUSLIMS:LABOUR'S PATIENCE RUNS OUT" - didn't see the story - could it be that the end is in sight for the racial discrimination mob ( or is saying that a racialist statement?)

SLIGHT ASIDE -
Man held over Iraq 'abuse' video

Released by the News of the World, the images, taken in southern Iraq two years ago.

Funny - thought this would have surfaced earlier , or was this just a convenient time to air it :?

You'll never get rid of the 'red & white' now, they are far too big for that

Think one or two very PC councils in Warks did try - people power via the local press to local councillors and residents flying the flag soon put them in their place and the flag back on council buildings.
And last year( may 2004) a pub chain banned it in their pubs and had to back down .
A certain UNI also banned St George flag in 2002.

There's a house near me where a foreign flag flies every world cup.
Sauce for the goose etc.....

There was a good piece on this issue by Andrew Sullivan in last weekend's Sunday Times:

Islamo-bullies get a free ride from the West

Quote:
Others have claimed, in contrast, that the cartoons are tame and cannot even faintly be described as offensive — certainly no more offensive than any number of other cartoons that are published all the time.

That’s my position, by the way. I think that much of the “offence” is contrived, that it has been manipulated by Islamists and the Syrian and Egyptian governments to advance their own agendas, and that Jyllands-Posten, the Danish newspaper that first published them, deserves high praise for facing down Islamist bullies.

Apologies to any who saw my post on this on PH, but a friend sent me the link to this article which has an interesting take on the "cartoons" incident..:

http://www.spiked-online.com/articles/0000000CAF59.htm

I rather liked his take on multiculturalism (as opposed to "integration" which is what we always used to promote in the UK)

I wonder what would happen if I, an Englishman, atheist and astrophysicist, moved to live near Mecca and complained that the noise coming from thousands of pilgrims wandering round one of the largest meteorites ever to fall to Earth was interfering with my home-life. Also that their keeping this extraordinary piece of space-rock as an icon to mumbo-jumbo was an affront to my belief that it should be surrendered for scientific examination.
My head would come off my shoulders in the blink of an eye...

Further to this end, how did a mullah get on to a Channel 4 chat show and get away with a statement like "Muslims in the West are the new Jews."?

Xenophobia is spelt with an 'X'

To quote from Tony Hancock:-
"Haven't you heard of Magna Carta - did she die in vain...?"

I do think Austria (as well as other countries) should be setting a better example:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4710508.stm

They are making David Irving look almost sane in comparison with this ridiculous trial, and that is not something I support.

Quote:
"Irving is a fool. And the best way of dealing with fools is to ignore them."
