Apologies, as I'm sure this has been asked somewhere on here (just can't find it) I have googled looking for information on these blue and green - ish cameras on the A69 between Newcastle and the M6 at Carlisle, most do say they are monitoring traffic, number plates etc. although the odd website states that speed cameras can now be blue. So i'm not too sure really.

I am aware of three or four yellow speed cameras on this route but just wondered what these blue and green cameras are? Are all speed cameras yellow, do they need to be yellow?

I've traveled the A69 once or twice (last week, in fact!) and I think those (I reckon they're dark blue with a couple of aerials on them?) cameras are just traffic sensors (i.e. nothing to do with enforcement and just to do with monitoring traffic hold-ups).

The green ones are the same kind of thing.

Fixed speed cameras don't have to be yellow (or other bright colours) but government guidelines strongly encourage them to be, and the vast majority now are.
