Here's a live webcam of the famous Abbey Road zebra crossing:

http://www.abbeyroad.com/visit/

Can be quite addictive...

The different styles of pedestrians asserting their right to cross the zebra are interesting. Plus I've just seen a guy deliberately walking to and fro across the crossing, pausing in thought for a few seconds on either side.

And (inevitably) a cyclist charge through regardless and nearly knock a pedestrian over :x

Photography on the crossing is also an obvious problem.

Same thing occurs on the Champs Eleysées in front of the Arc de Triomphe!

They should put up a small section of Armco around these sites! :D

Seems quite fun really - just seen 3 ladies 'walk' across and waving before and after (I guess) to friends on their phones. :)
Also seen many cars slow thinking some might be about to cross and seen 1 other car fail to stop even though they applied some harsh breaking, not yet seen any ped obviously thank any car for stopping - although to be fair it is a bit dark to be absolutely sure.

From my one and only visit to Paris ,I got the impression that in this area there were only two sorts of pedestrians

The QUICK and the DEAD
