Those of you who have been on here for a while will know that I am an Aston enthusiast. Imagine my horror at this:

I'm going to lie down now...

That's actually quite funny

Still, I supppose they have to look at the small car market, even if it's going to be very highly priced!

Really

Still, if it helps keep them producing real cars...

I think they're onto a good thing here. The supermini market is full of cheap n nasty small cars. Having one which is luxurious is a market segment that only Lancia used to do and they're barely here. A £20k aston is probably the only way I'd afford one! I'd expect Porsche to follow suit as emission regs nonsense is going to affect all manufacturers. Hopefully Bentley will also do the same as they're in the doldrums after a bumper few years.

I really thought it was a joke at first as they called it the "Cygnet", a clear reference to the ugly ducking and the fact that the "adults" in the family are beautiful swans.

I’m looking at the badge on that car and you know the feeling you get when you see a young beautiful woman in the arms of an ugly old man and think what the hec is she doing with him? :?

I went to Newport Pagnell once, back in 77ish, to see where they were made. :)

Sadly, the Newport Pagnell factory is now demolished.

The Works Service department is still there across the road from the old site.

Aston Martin has struck a ground-breaking deal with Toyota to launch a £20,000 version of the Japanese-built iQ commuter car, badged Aston

The Cygnet uses standard Toyota iQ mechanical components and proportions, but with different wheels and tyres.

So effectively a rebadged iQ - a car that normally costs £12k for £20k Bargain !!

DB9 and Vantage at Gaydon but the new Rapide by Magna Steyr in Austria, I believe.

You get the factory visit offered by the dealer when your car is being built.

Some departure !
I wonder if they have experimented with Toyota with an idea for an F1 venture in the future?
I assume they are concerned about missing out on some extra business in the (rollerskate ;) ), 'mini car runabout' market. :)

Same thought crossed my mind, and many others I suspect.

Toyota have a monumentally expensive and laughable unsuccessful F1 operation. The aston group of companies includes prodrive, recently snubbed in their attempts to re-enter F1...
