Couple of points here - firstly to tell people about Google News if you haven't really played around with it yet. It is *excellent* for sifting news articles. For example this search will pick up all speed camera stories in the UK.

The other thing is that they seem to have picked up the ABD press releases:

I'm not sure how they got them indexed but it would be great if SS had theirs indexed too!

I'll certainly look into it. I didn't see an ABD PR from the link you quoted - perhaps it expired?

The link to http://www.carkeys.co.uk/news/2004_september/30/4599.asp contains a mention of the ABD highlighting proposed changes to VED to add an additional charge for all vehicles, including those currently exempt (e.g. disabled badge holders, pre 1973 classics, and vehicles for which SORN is declared).

This is where the press has picked up on our info, or asked for a quote, and then published it. It's NOT a "direct" connection into the Safe Speed or ABD PR systems.

Yes, it's not there any more. It was actually linking to the press release on the ABD site and had "ABD, UK (Press Release)" in the grey bit of the source.

I just clicked the Google link at the top of this thread

There was a link to a page saying the government now wish to tax vehicles that are kept off the road.

Just yet another example of this government's determination to tax people out of existence.

It's becoming very clear that we, all of us, have a hell of a fight on our hands. They (The system, dictatorship, whatever you wish to call it) are gonna shaft us for every penny they can get. If they don't get it through speed cameras, they will find some other means to fleece us. You can be sure, the means by which they achieve this goal will be just as unfair!

The google alerts service can also very useful

http://www.google.co.uk/alerts

you can set up as many as you like - I have a few including "Speed Cameras" and "Speeding"

this sends a list of links containing matches to your choosen inbox on a daily basis (if new ones re found)
