Driving in the UK on Chinese licence

I have a friend who is chinese, and she has a chinese driving licence, but she (We) are un-sure where she stands with respect to driving a car over here. She is working in the UK for the next few years (but she goes back to china land over the school summer hoildays). Will she need a UK licence, or can she use her Chinese one while over here?

Your friend will have to get a UK licence after being resident in this country for more than 12mths, even if she goes home to China for a holiday her 12mths doesnt start again upon her return.
